The Ballad of Tecoma – Lyrics (PDF)

Brian Baker is a singer/songwriter living in the Dandenong Ranges east of Melbourne, Australia. He sings and plays guitar, keyboards, bass and drums. After moving to Australia from New Zealand in 1980, he performed with many Australian bands, securing a Sony recording deal with “The Ones” in 1984 and later writing and recording the score for the movie “Rikki and Pete” with Eddie Rayner from Split Enz.

Eddie and Brian went on to work together as “The Makers”, releasing 2 CDs through Warner, East West label. Together with drummer Michael Barker, they toured Australia and New Zealand with the B52’s.

Brian has spent his life in the music industry, performing at countless shows and writing and recording songs and music at the highest level of his profession. He now offers that expertise through his business “A Tractor Productions”, producing videos and music for companies.

He hasn’t stopped writing and performing his music, and his latest CD, “Hard Light” features Eddie on keyboards, some of which was recorded in at Neil Finns Roundhead Studios in Auckland.

Trash and Treasure – Carolyn Oates

Carolyn and I (David Carr) would like to dedicate this to Tecoma’s fearless battlers. It was originally written as a reflection on the GFC and what Carolyn observed as Capitalism gone completely mad. But here we are once again, fighting the powers that say Progress at any cost- they think of “moving forward”, of power and profit but destroy the things we hold dear in the process. Like Tecoma.

“Rich man’s trash has become our world’s treasure”.
