McDonald’s franchisee James Currie has once again shown his total lack of local knowledge by abusing our much loved elderly hills icon ‘The Wizard’ Baba Desi.
Baba Desi has reported himself that as he was sitting across the road from McDonald’s James Currie himself yelled out of his car “Go home you idiot!”
Last night the Belgrave Lantern Parade was headed by the wonderful Wizard himself. He is as much a part of the Hills as the iconic Puffing Billy and has been adopted by this community as a treasured spirit and elder.
Respectable hills cafes and eateries welcome Baba Desi with open arms. His engaging presence outside their establishments is a major endorsement of how they respect and work within our close knit community.
Baba Desi doesn’t need to hold a protest sign. His strong, stoic, peaceful protest on the far side of the road from the outlet is a clear indication of his ongoing protest to this inappropriate development.
James Currie himself declared on opening day that he respected the communities right to peaceful protest, obviously as his business struggles this promise is becoming more difficult to keep.
Our community promises that ‘we’ll never forget this’ and it has been added to James Curries’ long list of follies.
Someone needs to ‘go home’ and it’s NOT our wizard.
