McDonalds Being “Kicked to the Curb”
Clever wheelie bin stickers take the anti Maccas message to the streets

Dandenong Ranges, Victoria – 14/06/13 – The anti McDonalds in Tecoma message has been given a new twist with the protest group negotiating a deal marketing firm to make available “anti-Maccas” wheelie bin stickers for online ordering. The deal was struck earlier this month with No McDonalds in the Dandenong Ranges and YourWheelieBin.com to allow personalised messages to be printed on self-adhesive vinyl for application to standard wheelie bins of 240 litre and 120 litre sizes.

Campaign organiser Esther Kelly said “The idea actually came from one of the Mothers at Tecoma Primary who was looking for a way to show her support for the cause. We did some research to see if we could find an Australian made and environmentally sound product and came across YourWheelieBin.com. We were also pleased that with every wheelie sticker purchased, not only will you be helping our community make a stand against McDonalds in Tecoma, but you’ll also be buying clean water for a person in Northern Ethiopia who currently doesn’t have access to safe drinking water. It really is a win for both the community here and a community in Africa”

The stickers can be viewed and ordered from https://www.yourwheelie.com/store/index.php/burgeroff

Orders can also be taken at Belgrave Organics, 1675 Burwood Highway Belgrave for those that may not have access to the internet.

The No McDonalds in the Dandenong Ranges group have certainly been punching above their weight and appear to be winning the PR war against McDonalds. The group’s recent activities where picked up by the global news organisation CNN resulting in McDonalds agreeing to meet with a delegation from the community. The group has now called for McDonalds CEO Catriona Noble to become involved as the Tecoma project has become the most contentious in recent memory.
