Rough video of the Rod Quantock Flash Mob
As many of you would already know, last night our “flash-mobbers” were asked to perform a reprise of “Can you hear the people” for the opening of a special show marking Melbourne icon and living treasure Rod Quantock’s 45 years in show business.
Rod contacted the campaign a few days back to set this all up. The plan was for the lights to go down and the announcer would say “welcome the to stage Mr Rod Quantock” a spotlight would then show on stage our own Nick Seidenman who would commence the opening lines of the song (with his beautiful tenor voice). Then the house lights would come up to reveal the “Tecoma singers” making their way to the stage singing what has become somewhat of an anthem for our campaign,
The response was fantastic with Tecoma once again taking a round of thunderous applause and excitable cheering from the full house at Melbourne’s Anthenaum Theatre.
The photo’s posted here show the group warming up across the road at the City Square before heading off to take our stage entrance positions in the theatre foyer. We will try and post some of the handheld video shot so as you can get a feel for the audience response. Suffice to say it was again professionally shot by our documentary film maker and no doubt some higher quality vision will appear at some point.
Again, thanks to Cath Russell for pulling this all together on such short notice, Nick Seidenman for once again taking the audience’s breath away and of course the wonderful and talented Rod Quantock for getting us involved and his continuing support for the campaign.
