OUTRAGEOUS !!!

OUTRAGEOUS

You may not of know, but the Summary Offences Act passed the Upper House of State Parliament at 1:00am Wednesday morning. The process now is to have the Governor rubber stamp it and it will become a law which can be enforced from September 1st. Normally when a government passes legislation they promote, celebrate or at least call a media conference, in the case of this law the Napthine Government has been deathly silence probably because they know this repressive law will see a 21st century democratically elected government see itself compared to corrupt and morally bankrupt governments such as Queensland hd in the 60’s and 70’s
These laws are so bad that the news is drawing attention from international media organisations such as Russia’s RT News service. You can read the entire article here

This page is dedicated to stopping McDonald’s unwanted presence in Tecoma and we are concerned that corporations will place pressure on under-resourced police to take action on peaceful protests that are an inconvenience to their businesses plans.

At a our recent community meeting Deputy Opposition Leader and local MP James Merlino told the hundreds gathered that if elected the ALP will repeal this ridiculous law. Sam Dunne our local councillor and Greens candidate for the Upper House confirmed that the Greens would support the ALP in this regard.

But what about local members (LNP) who supported this law?Ferntree Gully MP Nick Wakeling was asked if he was prepared to face the Tecoma community and tell them why this law is a good thing…..he declined. We are also told an email was sent to Gembrook MP Brad Battin who to felt that facing the community was something he was not keen to do.

So what can you do?

If you live in a Victorian state electorate that is held by an LNP member, send him/her an email and tell them they have lost your support. (The electorates with government members closest to the Tecoma store are Ferntree Gully and Gembrook) If you live in a Labor held electorate like Monbulk find the LNP candidate and ask them “why they feel trampling a community’s democratic right is a good thing.”

We think it’s outrageous.
