Today the campaign was a guest of Change.org and asked to present the Tecoma story to a “sold out” crowd at Progress 2013. (http://progress2013.org.au/)
This event covers the issues, people and strategies that will define Australia’s non-profits and social movements for years to come. Tecoma was chosen as an example of how a grassroots campaign can effectively take to fight up to a corporate giant with deep pockets. It was pleasing to see a vast crowd fill the room to the point that people had to be turned away. Our campaign is certainly well known and it’s always a treat to meet first hand supporters from all over the country.
(Garry explains how online platforms such as Change.org and Indiegogo were used to take the Tecoma campaign nationally and ultimately internationally.)
