Opening day is imminent!
McDonalds has once again failed to work with the community and has elected to not advertise the exact date or time.
Word on the street and social media suggests they will be opening tomorrow morning at 6am. But who knows, they could be lying! They certainly have before!
Today McDonalds have once again totally ignored local conditions and are scrambling to comply with the traffic requirements set by VCAT. Holiday traffic heading up Burwood Hwy to visit the beautiful Dandenong Ranges has been reduced to a crawl. Tecoma has been described by one witness as resembling ‘some kind of prison in North Korea’ as McDonalds security continues to intimidate visitors and local residents.
Have no fear, our community will not be silenced and is prepared.
‘TURN YOUR BACK ON THE BIG MAC’ has been organised to once again show McDonalds, James Currie and our global supporters who we are. A peaceful community that still says NO.
We are the neighbours in the surrounding streets.
We are kids, parents and grandparents at the school across the road and schools across the hills.
We are businesspeople, healthcare workers, educators, artists and hold many other professions and occupations.
We wrote to the council in record numbers.
We marched the streets in our thousands.
We LOVE our home and we are protecting its heritage for everyone.
We have been protesting this for three years now and we will never give up, not until you have left.
Tomorrow we intend to show our ongoing rejection of McDonalds with a number of peaceful actions planned throughout the day. We will gather wearing our familiar red ‘I VOTED NO’ tshirts and turn our backs on this UNWANTED, UNWISE and UNPROFITABLE venture.
