BURGER OFF YOU TUBE

BURGER OFF ON YOU TUBE
We promised McDonalds a PR disaster if they were to move ahead with plans to develop against massive community objection, and that is exactly what we delivered.

It is probably the first time ever that such a massive amount of video and photographic evidence has been compiled against this Corporation and we intend to make sure it is shared over and over and over again.

This is our story so far.

But it is far from over.

Let the next Chapter begin.

James Currie – McDonalds
Unwanted, Unwise, Unprofitable

Heartfelt thanks to the talented videographer Tim Smith for sharing his incredible gift with our community.
Also to our local photographers Glenn Stephenson, John Weeks, Darren Clarke and others.
All musicians featured on ‘Resistance is Fetile’.
The list could go on and on
Thankyou to the Community in Tecoma.

THE EYES OF THE WORLD ARE WATCHING

Over the past 3 years Tecoma and the Hills community has gained the respect of tens of thousands from around the world.

They recognise that your actions have been honest and from the heart. The media cannot help but love the creativity and spirit of this passionate Community.

What has not been shared widely is the incredible amount of restraint you have shown against the day to day intimidation that has been thrust into your lives.

This Community has maintained a peaceful protest when faced with incredible provocation and stress. You should be proud.

McDonalds lawyers have sued.
McDonalds trolls have harassed.
McDonalds security have intimidated.
McDonalds builders have taunted.
McDonalds Corporation have ignored.

And you have responded with poetry, art, music, ribbons, permaculture and gNOmes.

Soon you will be faced with ‘McDonalds Customers’ and ‘McDonalds staff’. Hopefully they will behave better than the individuals listed above.

The next few weeks may prove very testing for us all.

If you find you are not coping please continue to support each other and take time out if required.

Please familiarise yourselves with the updated ‘Action Code of Conduct’. Adjustments have been made at recent Community meetings to reflect the adjustment from a demolition/building site to a commercial premises. Copies of the Code will be available on site during the opening week.

TECOMA PREPARES FOR THE NEXT CHAPTER.

Opening day is imminent!

McDonalds has once again failed to work with the community and has elected to not advertise the exact date or time.

Word on the street and social media suggests they will be opening tomorrow morning at 6am. But who knows, they could be lying! They certainly have before!

Today McDonalds have once again totally ignored local conditions and are scrambling to comply with the traffic requirements set by VCAT. Holiday traffic heading up Burwood Hwy to visit the beautiful Dandenong Ranges has been reduced to a crawl. Tecoma has been described by one witness as resembling ‘some kind of prison in North Korea’ as McDonalds security continues to intimidate visitors and local residents.

Have no fear, our community will not be silenced and is prepared.

‘TURN YOUR BACK ON THE BIG MAC’ has been organised to once again show McDonalds, James Currie and our global supporters who we are. A peaceful community that still says NO.

We are the neighbours in the surrounding streets.
We are kids, parents and grandparents at the school across the road and schools across the hills.
We are businesspeople, healthcare workers, educators, artists and hold many other professions and occupations.
We wrote to the council in record numbers.
We marched the streets in our thousands.
We LOVE our home and we are protecting its heritage for everyone.
We have been protesting this for three years now and we will never give up, not until you have left.

Tomorrow we intend to show our ongoing rejection of McDonalds with a number of peaceful actions planned throughout the day. We will gather wearing our familiar red ‘I VOTED NO’ tshirts and turn our backs on this UNWANTED, UNWISE and UNPROFITABLE venture.

Even if you are unable to physically join us in Tecoma you can help us ROAR by assisting with our social media campaign.

Join the event and share it within your private networks and groups.
